now that that's over with...
this is my favorite food. period. it is fairly quick and easy to make, and you can feed many, many people easily. the amounts below serve two people quite easily, just double the rice and water for four and add as many vegetables as you want.
the rice i use is REAL rice, not that uncle ben's crap. if you do want to use instant-rice, use the amounts and instructions for that particular rice. if you DO use good rice, this should work.
bring the water to a boil in a fairly large pot. add some salt. once the water is boiling, put the rice in and turn the heat down. cover the pot. let it simmer for as long as it takes to cook the rice (usually around 20-30 mins).
now the fun part comes in. go through your fridge and cupboard and take any vegetables and meat you can find. chop it up (can be done while rice is cooking). my favorite things to put in are onions, garlic, peppers, celery, peas, corn, eggs, and carrots. i don't usually put any meat in, but you can try. put the onions & garlic in a frying pan with a bit of oil. when the onions turn clear, put the rice in. fry it for awhile. put the rest of the veggies in and fry it some more. put some soya sauce in if you want. once you like the taste of the whole thing, take it out and eat it! mmm!
